What is a .ass file?
Advanced SubStation Alpha is a subtitle format developed by Kotus / Aegisub community, first released in 2002. It is usually created by Aegisub, anime fansub groups.
Supports per-line fonts, colours, positioning and karaoke timing, which is why styled anime subtitles use it instead of SRT.
