What is a .icns file?
Apple Icon Image is an image format developed by Apple, first released in 2001. It is usually created by Xcode, iconutil, macOS app bundles.
One file holds every icon size an app needs. The large entries (ic07–ic14) are ordinary PNG or JPEG 2000 streams, so they can be pulled out losslessly.
