Works
Viewing, inspecting and verifying. You get an interactive model you can orbit, pan and zoom, with lighting and a ground plane. File details, exact byte size and the detected signature are always shown.
The short version: DWG is an AutoCAD Drawing from Autodesk. The longer version — including the quirk that trips most people up — is below, along with a viewer that runs entirely on your own device.
AutoCAD Drawing is a 3d & cad format developed by Autodesk, first appearing in 1982. It is normally produced by AutoCAD and clones.
The signature encodes the version — AC1032 is AutoCAD 2018 format. Undocumented by Autodesk; third-party support relies on the Open Design Alliance.

OpenAnyFile routes .dwg to its WebGL 3D stage, which loads an interactive model you can orbit, pan and zoom, with lighting and a ground plane.

Editing and re-saving. OpenAnyFile is a reader, not an editor — for changes you still need AutoCAD or an equivalent.
Most online viewers work by sending your file to their server, processing it there, and leaving a copy behind on infrastructure you do not control. OpenAnyFile does not. Your .dwg file is read through the browser's local File API and decoded by JavaScript and WebAssembly running on your own machine. There is no upload step and no server-side copy — open your browser's network tab while you do it and watch: the file never appears.
Yes. OpenAnyFile's WebGL 3D stage runs in your browser, so you can read a DWG file with nothing installed. You get an interactive model you can orbit, pan and zoom, with lighting and a ground plane. For full editing you still need the original application — this is a viewer, not an editor.
Look at the first bytes rather than the extension. A genuine DWG begins with 41 43 31 30 (AC10..). Opening the file in OpenAnyFile shows that signature in the file-details panel, so a file renamed to .dwg by mistake is easy to spot.
With OpenAnyFile, yes, because nothing is uploaded. The file is read locally through your browser's File API and never leaves your device, so there is no server copy to leak, log or retain. That matters most for the kind of file people are least willing to hand to a random converter site.

Yes — the same engine also opens .dxf, .fbx, .glb, so you can compare related files without switching tools.
These open with the same engine, so if you have one of these sitting next to your .dwg file, it will open too:
